Mr Stewart has called attention in his annual reports to the necessity of providing a new building for the Central School for some years past.
The matter has been spoken of as being under the consideration of government but no despatch appears to have been received about it before Sir A. Kennedy's Despatch of 9th Aug. 76. In that despatch he sends the report of a Commission appointed to enquire into the best site for a new building.
And in his Despatch of 25th Nov. 76 he reports having bought the site for $50,000.
The further amount necessary for the building was provided for in the Estimate of 77 and 78.
